Biography

My name is Jessica “Yeya” Chávez and I am from Puerto Rico, but am based in Boston, Massachusetts & travel wherever my services are needed. I mainly photograph entrepreneurs, business owners and artists of all kinds who want to elevate their brand’s image and understand the value in having a great portrait.

I have worked in the Film & Entertainment business for more than 10 years shooting projects large and small. I have been a personal photographer for renowned Puerto Rican designer Stella Nolasco at New York Fashion Week, and as a result, was featured in Vogue México. I have done behind the scenes photography for films such as Driven. I delved deep into the theater / comedy scene documenting the intelligent and irreverent comedy collective Teatro Breve. I also co-founded local production company “Como Imágenes” with my partner Ricardo J. Santana. There, we established a focus on creating music videos and developing artistic commercial work. This experience allowed me to cultivate and explore another passion of mine; video directing.

As a Photographer, my genius zone is in capturing aesthetically pleasing portraits, creative commercial photography, and beautiful products. I like a variety of subjects to keep the creative juices flowing, I’m always up for a challenge.

Homeschooled. Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico.

Artist Contribution

As a brown artist from Puerto Rico, I have always helped out independent musicians with their projects & support independent artists in general with any visual imagery needed for their personal projects. I love discovering new artists and learning from them in the process of creating something together.
