A place of history, memory, and community
Built in 1913, Blessed Sacrament Church became an important gathering place for generations of residents in Jamaica Plain and played a meaningful role in the neighborhood’s Latine community life.
When the church closed in the early 2000s, parishioners, community leaders, young people, local businesses, and advocacy organizations mobilized around the future of the church and campus. Their efforts helped keep community needs, affordable housing, and cultural use at the center of the conversation.

Preserving history while imagining what comes next
The Blessed Sacrament campus has become a powerful example of community advocacy and placekeeping in Boston’s Latin Quarter. Over time, the site has been connected to affordable housing, public art, cultural events, youth performances, and community gathering.
The redevelopment of the church continues that story, preserving an important historic landmark while creating affordable homes and community space that can support arts, culture, youth, and neighborhood life.
